Things You Often Forget Before Your Next Summer EV Road Trip

Before we begin, wishing you everything good. Just spend 5 minutes making a checklist of those things you frequently forget before your next summer EV road Trip. This will dodge those ‘’oh no’’ moments and keep your journey joyful.

Trust me; I speak from my experience that’s why I am sharing these tips with you and would love to hear your road trip stories.

Have you ever felt your heart sink when your road trip became a mini-disaster?

Yeah, this happened to me during my first EV summer trip. I was not alone; the experience had been the same for more than 70% of first-time EV drivers on their first summer road trip.

I still remember that frustration when I realized that I had forgotten my charger; my excitement vanished and I almost had a heartache.

Make your next EV summer road trip not only unforgettable but also adventurous. Here, I am going to share the
things that we often forget before going on a Summer EV road trip (like chargers’ issues and sun protection) and super-easy fixes, so you can enjoy your magical EV road trip.

Let’s make this trip your best-ever summer road trip on your dream EV.

BOOK HOTELS WITH CHARGING SPOTS

Not all hotels have EV charging spots. If you want to enjoy your long EV road trip, make sure your car is fully charged and ready to drive all the time. Always prefer booking hotels having EV Charging spots.

Many people miss this trick. Give extra care to your family and Car.

SUN PROTECTION

Remember your sun protection! Do not forget your shade gear like sunscreen, umbrellas, hats, sunglasses, and water. These are the lifesavers in your summer trip.

Consider anything that will shield you from unexpected
UNSHADED CHARGING SPOTS.

FAMILY STUFF

If you have a small kid, I suggest you pack insect bite relief spray. You can also go with an insulated cooler for your EV to keep snacks and drinks fresh. Females can buy female urination devices in case of emergency.

CHARGER COMPATIBILITY

Make sure you have the proper charger that fits your EV’s plug – CCS or CHAdeMO can spoil your journey if they don’t match. For Non-Tesla drivers, get a TeslaTap adaptor which will increase your options by connecting to Tesla’s Destination Charger network.

Soon we will be having new solid-state charging batteries that will get charged within 10 minutes. If this happens then you will not have to spend a long time in the future charging your batteries.

ADVANCE APP SETUP

Make sure you installed and set up Electrify Amerca, PlugShare, and other apps to avoid login issues when you need them most. Set up all apps at home while enjoying your coffee.

TIRE PRESSURE AND WATER FLUID

Tire pressure directly impacts the range of your EV due to summer heat. Before starting your EV road trip, check your tire conditions and tire pressure. It can gradually reduce the EV range. Carry the tyre repair kit that suits your EV.

Check the water fluid of your car, you will need it most when you pass through dusty roads or during bad weather.

PEAK CHARGING TIME

Avoid peak timing for charging your EV. You can either charge early or late to skip the crowds. If you follow this, you are most likely to get empty spots in charging stations. These small things make your journey smooth and stress-free.

If you are in America, you can see how your states have been doing in improving EV charging infrastructure.
